The Titan has for many years been Wild Country's most successful screwgate. This lithe unit has always been praised for its combination of light weight and open ergonomic design that has meant it is easy to handle and easy to clip with.
The Titan's Offset shape and long 'reach' making clipping easy...
The open 'D' shape with a 'kicked-out' nose has given the Titan an especially large gate opening for a screwgate meaning it's easier to get ropes in and out and set belays.
Another important factor with the Titan is that it has Wild Country's unique super-safe full-strength 7075 thimble. What this means is that the screw on the gate will resist gate-inward loading to 7kn, and although this is not noticable in everyday use it protects the gate in rarer circumstances. For example a badly set belay when the screw is forced against the rock, with less strong alloys on the gate it could crack and push in opening the krab.
And like all the Wild Country biners, the thimble on the gate always stops short of the nose making sure it cannot be over-tightened.
So for your runners, for a light belay choice or simply because the shape is so good the Titan retains its place in the range. |
